Carers' Vintage Tea Party Proves a Roaring Success
26th Jun, 2014
A warm sunny Saturday afternoon saw Shropshire Rural Community Council host a Vintage Tea Party for family carers from across the region at the County Showground in Shrewsbury.
Diane Cuff of the Carers Support Team said: “It was a wonderful occasion, the location was easily accessible and the facilities were excellent, the beautiful weather was simply a bonus and we are very grateful to the showground committee for their continued support to carers in the county.
“The relaxed vintage atmosphere worked well and our team put in a lot of effort to ensure that people enjoyed themselves with teas, sandwiches and cakes, and the feedback we received was very positive indeed.”
To add to the occasion a competition was held for the person who turned up on the day with the best vintage outfit and this was won by young county carer Annabelle Pritchard, from Alveley, near Bridgnorth.
Annabelle, aged 17, is a student at Oldbury Wells School in Bridgnorth and was chosen to be the clear winner by judges Julia Baron and Gordon Grant.
“I have a great interest in everything vintage and love the whole look of that era, so I am absolutely delighted to have won” said Annabelle, who helps care for her father Michael.
