Diabetes Awareness Programme Part 2
23rd May, 2017
1:45pm to 4:30pm, at Worthen Village Hall, Worthen, SY5 9HT
Diabetes is becoming increasingly common but it is estimated that 80% of Type 2 Diabetes cases are avoidable. Recent media coverage has highlighted some of the serious consequences of uncontrolled Diabetes, such as 140 amputations per week in England and Wales. Simple lifestyle changes have been shown to help delay the onset of type 2 diabetes. To help prevent type 2 diabetes and its complications, people of all ages should:
• achieve and maintain a healthy body weight;
• be physically active
• eat a healthy diet and
• avoid tobacco use.
Once Diabetes has developed, there are more lifestyle adaptations which can help to manage the potentially serious complications.
Shropshire RCC is hosting a Diabetes Awareness Programme in Worthen Village Hall, Worthen, SY5 9HT on Tuesday 16th & 23rd May.
The programme runs as two afternoon sessions and is being held in partnership with Worthen Medical Practice. Entry is free of charge to anyone with Diabetes, their families and anyone who is concerned about developing the condition. Everyone is welcome but places must be booked in advance by phoning Susie on 01743 342160
